Springtime fishing has been a hoot! Now, we are geared up for summer 2025!

The Spring snook fishing was absolutely incredible in 2025! I had a lot of long-term customers, as well as a lot of new customers that were welcomed aboard! Snook fishing was the main event in Spring as we have had a lot of fish move through, and they were a lot of fun! Multiple fish over 40 inches and a ton of keeper snook have been caught. I don’t want to get too much into it since it’s past time, so let’s get into the summer activities going on!

Summertime fishing could mean diversity! So, we have multiple things we could do in the summer depending on what you’re looking to target. Tarpon fishing is in right now. Recently, with one of my regulars on deck, we spotted 3 or 4 schools of over 50 tarpon in the Melbourne Beach area. So, I am definitely looking forward to getting people on these big game fish. They are always a great summertime event and they are super fun.
Snook fishing will continue to be good through the summer. As snook moves through the inlet and out to the ocean, these fish get big, ready for spawn. The water is crystal clear right now, so we can catch a lot of fish by sight fishing which is a huge advantage on our part!

The bottom fishing in deeper waters has been slow due to a cold-water upwelling. A lot of the guys are running out there now are catching mahi, kingfish, etc., and trolling live bait rather than bottom fishing. When there is a cold-water upwelling, it will push some fish on our near-shore reefs! In the last week, I have heard reports of some big mutton snapper off Vero Beach! Cobia is moving closer to shore, too, with multiple reports of cobia free swimming, and being caught as well!

This concludes this fishing report. If you are in the Melbourne Beach, Vero Beach, or Sebastian area, give me a call or text! Thanks for booking with East Coast Fishing Charters!
