Spring fishing is full-on, here, on the east coast of Florida. With the water temperatures on the rise, our seasonal fish are moving from the creeks to the open flats of the Indian River Lagoon. We have seen a lot of big snook, reds, and trout the last few weeks so the fishing has absolutely picked up! Winter fishing was rough this past season. We had a lot of wind and rain making fishing conditions unfavorable. Now that we are in the Spring run, things are looking way better! Lately, we have been hitting good numbers of fish on deck. So, for my regulars who love to snook fish around Sebastian Inlet, now is the time!
The snook fishing is good right now! We are catching them consistently and seeing larger size fish. The last two trips I have run, we landed and released snook with double digits, plus landed a couple over 40 inches!
I had the pleasure of fishing with one of my regulars, Kelly, the other day! Among others, Kelly has fished with me for over five years, and I consider him to be a dear friend. The one fish that has eluded him is the Cobia! We have had opportunities where he was hooked up with a big Cobia, then unselfishly handed the rod to another family member. So, karma came for him. We started off with about a 30-pound jack, which was an insane fight! Then we moved on to catch a 40+ inch snook! Then, in the finale, he roped in two monster Cobia! The first one was at 36 1/2 inches at the fork, and the other was over 40 inches at the fork! Congratulations Kelly on an awesome day on the water! We’ll see you back in the Fall!
This concludes my fish report for Spring of 2024! Thanks for fishing with East Coast Fishing Charters!
