With the Fall weather, we are hooking lots of pumpkins! If you are not sure what I’m talking about, the bull reds have been in full spawn for the last few weeks. The big reds are all through Sebastian Inlet right now. Most trips, we are having double digit days between the snook and redfish.
Most of our slot reds are coming off the flats anywhere from Melbourne, Florida down to Vero Beach. The slot reds are chewing on pretty much anything such as live and cut bait, as well as artificial.
Right now, there are a ton of mullet on the flats, and with all of the bait there is plenty of big trout, snook, and slot reds to catch.
I had Kevin and his dad, Rick, on the boat October 28th and 29th. On the first day, we hit Sebastian Inlet and hammered the redfish and snook. On day 2, to avoid the crowds at the inlet we decided to fish the flats around Vero Beach. Kevin and his dad are from North Carolina. In that region they have lots of trout, but nothing compared to the world class speckled sea trout we have. They both landed their personal best trout, hitting right around the 30-inch mark!
Here is a picture of Kevin with a stud trout he landed! This concludes my Fall fishing report. I would like to thank everyone that had booked a charter this year. I know I will see most of you next year.
Thank you,
Captain Don
